PUBG X ASUS ROG COLLABORATION ANNOUNCED

A post on ROG’s Weibo page confirms that on June 5, Tencent Games and Asus signed a memorandum to collaboratively work on a new ASUS ROG smartphone. The upcoming ROG 2, that’s expected to be released in China this July, will have Tencent optimize the gaming experience while ASUS work on improving the tech. With this collaboration in place, both parties are focused on delivering a new experience for mobile users.
Rumors suggest that the next ROG iteration may come with a 120Hz display, more RAM compared to the first ROG and obviously a Snapdragon 855 CPU.
As of now, there has been no official news on the launch of the phone but taking last year’s timeline of the launch for the first ROG phone into consideration, we can expect the launch by mid-November in India. Also, according to a recent report done by Digitimes, the ROG Phone 2 is set to launch in the third quarter of the year. If these reports are to be believed, the phone could be launched by the end of July considering the increase in competition from Black Shark 2 and Red Magic 3.
Under this new partnership, Asus’ gaming brand, ROG, and Tencent Games will work together for the development of new gaming content that will be specifically tailored for the ROG Phone 2, hence giving it an edge over the competition.
This partnership will probably be helpful for the Asus ROG Phone 2 hoping to reach a wider audience in the world of e-sports, and at the same time improve customer awareness of the ROG brand among traditional gamers.
China based company Nubia that specializes in gaming phones, have already given a launch date for their new Red Magic 3 device in India.
More on this soon. In the meantime, with the first ROG phone retailing around Rs. 69,999/- with an exchange discount of up to Rs. 21,000, what are your thoughts on the ROG 2 pricing?
